By-election: Aregbesola, Not Stoned In Ogun –ADC

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun at the weekend refuted a viral video that its National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, was stoned in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by-election campaign in Remo.
The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Olamide Onabajo, stated that the purported video is “a blatant lie” that emanated from the #EndSARS protest in Osun State with the aim of maligning and ridiculing the former Minister of Interior and tarnishing the growing popularity of the party.
According to Onabajo, neither Aregbesola nor any of the ADC’s leaders were stoned in the by-election campaign rally for its candidate, Barr. Solomon Osho, in Remo and its environs, urged members of the public to ignore the video.
According to him, the only challenge the party faced in the campaign was the alleged involvement of the Nigerian Police, who took their musical instruments, damaged their canopies and chairs, and even prevented Aregbesola and other party leaders from reaching the campaign arena.
He said: “According to our State Chairman, Otunba Dr. Femi Soluade: This is a blatant lie from the pit of hell manufactured by desperate political actors and their goons. For the avoidance of doubt: No ADC leader was stoned, rejected, or attacked in Remo or anywhere in Ogun State
“The said video being circulated is not only fake but mischievously lifted from the period of the #EndSARS protests in Osun State, a time when Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was no longer even the Governor. The intention is clear: to misinform the public and discredit the growing popularity of the ADC ahead of 2027.
“The only challenge faced by our campaign yesterday was the deliberate action of the Nigerian Police, acting under the script of the ruling party in Ogun State, to stop us from reaching our campaign venue. “Our canopies were destroyed, our chairs broken, our instruments seized, and our leaders, including our National Secretary, our Southwest Chairman, and our State Chairman, were blocked from getting to the campaign arena.
“We wish to state clearly: ADC has come to stay. Ogun people have accepted us as the credible alternative. No amount of propaganda, fake videos, or intimidation can stop the voice of the people.
“We call on the public to disregard the false viral video and remain steadfast. The ADC remains committed to peaceful, issue-based campaigns and the liberation of our people from failed leadership.”
