Itsekiri Announces Death Of Olu Of Warri, New Olu Designate

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Johnson Atserunleghe, have announced the death of the 20th Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli on Monday.

As customary, the announcement of his death was followed by 20 cannon shots indicating that 20 Olus had reigned so far

This was followed by the pronouncement of a mourning period of three lunar months by the Iyatsere.

During this period, there shall be no drumming, dancing or merrymaking and all sons and daughters of the kingdom must tie their wrapper upside down and a mourning period of three lunar months .

Also, an Olu designate, Prince Itieyinoritsetsola Emiko, was announced and introduced to the people.
