Soludo In Hot Water For Blaming Igbo Youths For Crimes In Anambra

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, has come under attack on social media after he alleged that 99.9% of arrested criminals, kidnappers in Anambra State are Igbo youths.

The African Examiner writes that in a video that has gone viral, Governor Soludo was seen saying in a gathering, “Since my inception in office, if we arrest 100 criminals, 99.99% of them are original Igbo.”
The African Examiner writes that there have been criminal activities in Anambra State and other parts of the east.

Also, the issue of Fulani herdsmen is still a menace in many parts of the country. However, the statement by Governor Soludo has absolved herdsmen from any criminal activities in Anambra State.

However, many netizens are not happy with this development as they believe that Governor Soludo, who is preparing to contest for a second term in office, is trying to please the federal government and speak ill of the people.

Also, there are some netizens who are of the view that the governor is telling the truth.

The African Examiner presents some of their thoughts below:

@MascotOgbe writes: “Why throw your own people under the bus because you want to be on the good books of your masters?”

@iambabangida_ writes: “It has long been known that most crimes in southern Nigeria are committed by local indigenous people, not Fulanis. It’s time for Southerners to look inward regarding crime in their regions, as politicizing the issue will only exacerbate tensions. Security data consistently points to local involvement.”

@Plug08066 writes: “You see how your tribe is talking down on you people. When I say Igbo leaders are the Igbo problem they’d think I’m being tribalistic. Meanwhile, many useless Igbo elders sat there listening to this foolish man.”

@ChukwunyeluOrji writes: “But anambra state is not complaining about fulani heardsmen, they are complaining about kidnapping and they are two different things. kidnappers and fulani heardsmen operates differently. he should leave cho cho cho and deal with insecurity as there is no point to score here.”

@Beyond1016467 writes: “It’s disheartening. I once treated a patient who had been brutalized by kidnappers. He was captured along the Enugu–Anambra road; although they blindfolded him, he said they spoke Igbo fluently.”

@Don_Chris22 writes: “He’s right because you can’t arrest Fulani kidnapers and even if you do the governor will still order for their release They are all twerking for the Fulanis and we all know that.”

@iwologbon writes: “They’re using “Fulani herdsmen” to cover up their actions, thanks to their media bandits that’s helping shape and promote the narrative. Lazy youths kidnapping people for money whilst lying that’s it’s about “freedom”, Freedom from who?”

@collinsc554  writes: “How much are they paying you, to sell your people.”

@Bosky writes: “Just look at them crying all over the comment section because they hate the truth. they’d rather blame others.”

@anewname758 writes: “It’s because he is afraid to arrest fulani terrorists.”

@SIRKOBAD writes: “When they destroyed there region, they start moving out in mass to other regions.”

@Ude writes: “I have always maintained that being a professor doesn’t mean you are educated or have common sense.”
